The main media buy up Gota Media's part of the Local Journals in the West, which includes the Muldals Post, and thus become the sole owner of the group.
On Thursday afternoon, there was news of a ownership stake among Western newspaper groups. In addition to buying up the remaining fifty percent of Western (OTV) local newspapers, Stampen also takes over Alingssa Newspaper, Lerum Newspaper and the Alingsrasskurirer.
Pontus Roos, CEO of OTV, has also been made aware of the news during the day.
This is an agreement between our two owners that makes the tribe sole owner of OTV, he says.
What will this affair mean for MP readers?
The starting point is that we will deliver good local journalism and develop our subscription business, which is absolutely the focus. Readers will not notice any difference in time.
Boine Gepertz, head of Gota Media Group, says in a press release:
We are proud and pleased to have been owners of OTV and the Alings Exchange for several years; within OTV there is a unique competence to run and develop vanity newspapers in a very successful way, he says in a statement.
Johan Hansson, CEO of Stampen Media, comments on the GP deal:
It is very gratifying to be able to communicate this business today. We thus ensure the quality of local journalism in Alingsas. We are also very pleased that we have signed at the same time a memorandum of understanding with the Gota media concerning the acquisition of their shares in OTV and the Alings Exchange.
