There are several ways to export and import the contents of the WordPress page. Often it is enough to save your posts, pages, photos and comments about the home export function of WordPress as.xml file to import them into the new WordPress installation. This is going relatively fast and you do not need any more expertise.

Sometimes it is not enough to export the contents as.xml. For example, widgets and their contents are not exported. 1. Export content of the WordPress page

To export and import your content from the WordPress page, you need to save your content. You can find WordPress's own export function in the dashboard at

You come to a view where you can select what you want to export.

You can choose whether you want to export all content, only posts or only pages. In the case of posts and pages, you can also determine whether you want to export only certain posts. For example, only by an author or a category or posts that are not yet published. There are a few more options for you to get your export together.

If you have made your settings, you can download the Export file. You now need to import the saved.xml file into your new WordPress installation.

2. Import content of the WordPress page

To import the data, go to your dashboard

If the WordPress installation is new, the import functions are not yet installed, but only prepared. If you click on the desired service, you can install the respective importer plugin to use it. We want to use the WordPress Importer and install the plugin accordingly.

Then you can select and upload your.xml file.

Before you can complete the import, you will be asked a few more questions. If there are no users, you will be asked if you want to create them or which user you want to assign the contents to. You can also find attachments such as photos, videos, pdf files, etc. import.

Depending on how many contents and attachments you import, it may take a few minutes for everything to be imported. In the meantime, you should enjoy your free time and not close the browser window, otherwise you will cancel the import.

When the import is finished successfully, your contents are visible and you can process and use them as normal.

In rare cases you get an error message when importing. The error is usually a "Fatal error: Allowed memory size xxxxx bytes exhausted". If you get this error message, your PHP memory limit is too low. In this case, you should contact your host and ask him to increase your PHP memory limit. Then you can restart the import.
